New Belgica, Boom

New Belgica, Boom

“A part of our history”

In Boom, near Antwerp, you can visit the yard of the replica of Belgica and a exhibition which will allow visitors to get a glimpse of Adrien de Gerlache’s expedition to Antartica on his historic ship Belgica. In 1897, this Belgian explorer undertook a scientific and highly adventurous expedition to Antarctica. We had the honor to create the concept of the exhibition inside the yard where the De Steenschuit is working on a replica of Belgica, Adrien de Gerlache’s historic three-masted ship. The beauty of this organization ‘De Steenschuit’ is that there is also a social concept behind their organization. They re-integrate people who are long-term unemployed in the atelier. When the ‘New Belgica’ is finished, he will receive his final place in the port of Antwerp, next to the MAS.

“Happy New Belgica, Happy Kalibre!”
